August 8th, 2008 by romeoWelcome to our romantic weekend in Edinburgh, where I will guide you through a few romantic ideas for a wonderful weekend break.
Edinburgh is a beautiful and historic city and is the perfect location for a romantic getaway; it is filled to the brim with history and also has a modern contemporary side as well. There is something for everyone to do and see in Edinburgh, you will both of have loads of fun!
Your only problem will be trying to fit everything in! To make things easier I have thought of a few ideas to get you started.
Day One
Make an early start and travel by car, taking in the beautiful scenery. You can pack a picnic and enjoy a romantic picnic on the way in some of Scotland’s most stunning scenery. You will then arrive relaxed and ready for the day ahead.
You won’t need the car in Edinburgh, so get checked into your Hotel and lock up the car for the weekend. Getting around Edinburgh is easy; it is a compact city which you can explore on foot, but if you do want to go further a field, the public transport links are very good.
Edinburgh Castle
Start your romantic weekend break with a trip to Edinburgh Castle; one of Edinburgh’s most famous landmarks and also one of the most visited! You can’t miss it; it sits right above the town on a huge piece volcanic rock. The castle dates back to the 16th century and has wonderful views over the whole of Edinburgh. Take the audio tour and stroll hand-in-hand around the castle grounds.
You can then continue your afternoon with a walk down the “The Royal Mile”; it’s right next to the castle and leads down to The Palace of Holyrood House. There are lots of shops and boutiques along the way, so why not treat your partner to something special!
You can then take a trip around the Palace and its grounds or if you are feeling energetic, you could hike to the top of Arthurs Seat for more breath taking views of the City.
Romantic Restaurants and Bars
I am sure after today’s walking, you will be ready for a few beers and a romantic meal! Well you will be spoilt for choice in Edinburgh’s many restaurants and bars. Enjoy the food, the company and some of Scotland’s excellent hospitality.
You can then finish the evening with Edinburgh’s Literary Pub Tour or the Witchery Tour; remember to hold each other close for this one!
After all of that, I’m sure you will be ready for bed. There is lots to do tomorrow, so try to get a few hours sleep before the morning.
Good luck with the Romantic weekend break in Scotland! View more great romantic Edinburgh ideas.
